The U-value (heat transfer coefficient) is a measure of the heat transfer through a building component such as walls, windows, roofs or floors. It indicates how much heat energy is lost per square metre (m²) and per degree of temperature difference between the inside and outside of a building component. The U-value is given in the unit W/(m²-K).

What does the U-value say? Low U-value: Good thermal insulation capacity. The component lets less heat through, which minimises energy losses and reduces heating costs.High U-value: Poor thermal insulation capacity. An energy performance certificate is required for new builds, sales, lettings and major refurbishments. It provides an assessment of the energy efficiency of your property.

You often cannot apply for these subsidies yourself, so it is highly advisable to go through a professional energy consultant, but please note that offers from tradesmen may only be accepted after you have applied for the subsidy. Otherwise there is a risk that the subsidy will not be granted.

The right of cancellation applies to consumers, i.e. natural persons who conclude a transaction for purposes that cannot be attributed to their commercial or independent professional activity.
