The Environ quartz ignition elements (glow igniters) have a much longer service life and a much higher ignition rate than conventional steel igniters or ceramic igniters. The shortened ignition process also significantly reduces power consumption. Quartz igniters reach a higher temperature much more quickly and therefore ignite pellets much more quickly. With a Mohs hardness of 7, quartz is one of the hard minerals and serves as a reference value on the Friedrich Mohs scale, which goes up to 10 (diamond).
